'Avatar' Sequels: Everything We Know So Far

The journey from Earth to Pandora takes about six years. It looks like James Cameron need only five to return to "Avatar". The author and director has two official "Avatar" was launched suites that his next project, with the first arrival in December 2014 and the second opening in December 2015.

"[W] e will not return accelerator" Avatar "visual and emotional power and continue their themes and characters will explore," Cameron said in a statement Wednesday morning (October 27).

The themes and characters, you say? Well, it is not very informative at all. Fortunately, Cameron and his cronies, more details about what we can for the next installments of "Avatar" expect spilled. Here's what we know now about the suites.

Exploring the Oceans and other planets
We had a taste of the undersea world of worms, if Sam Worthington Jake Sully crashed a waterfall, but the action took place almost exclusively in the field and in the air. According to Cameron, "Avatar 2" is to plunge into the ocean of worms.

"Part of my concentration in the second film in a different environment to create - a different attitude in Pandora," he said. "And I'm on the ocean on Pandora, the equally rich and diverse is wild and imaginative focus, but it will not be a rain forest."

Cameron later told MTV News that he film clips submarines are in power, what would be a Pandora's oceans. . "I think we should do is - because we have characters that are in and under water - is that we grasp it, under water," Cameron MTV News said: "It is not the same as diving, but I want my diving, which I keep for fun, separate from the work. "

While "Avatar" focuses exclusively on Pandora, a moon exotic "Avatar 3" is expected to start to explore other planets. "We have a variety of environmental film," said Cameron. "This is not just Pandora, but the whole system Alpha Centauri AB and we extend this system [in the subsequent films] and further integrate into the history -. Not necessarily in the second movie, but more for a third film."

Jake and Neytiri - and perhaps Grace - Back
At the end of "Avatar," Jake finally left his human body and transfer his consciousness to his avatar Na'vi, at last, with whom he really be with Neytiri (Zoe Saldana). The next two films will also continue to tell their story.

"We will follow Jake and Neytiri," said Cameron us.

Who else is back? Sigourney Weaver character, scientific Grace Augustine, appeared to die at the end of the film. But Weaver said we should not assume, Grace appears in some form in the suites.

"It's always a mistake in science fiction to these judgments on the dead to make," said Weaver MTV News' You do not really see it die. What you saw was met with some thing .... I think, [ James Cameron is] that all this is a surprise, but do not buy the ring quite yet. "

The development process So Far
In his statement, Cameron announced that he start writing the follow early next year. We already know he has a head start on the process cumbersome. He has written hundreds of pages of notes about where the story goes.

"I have a trilogy story arc right scale now, but I have to write really no serious work into a screenplay," he said in December 2009.

And just because the scripts are not finished does not mean do not start pre-production. They are working on the creature and environmental development "as soon as Jim locks in some of these notes," said producer Jon Landau. "We did not wait for a script on it. And there are some things that we have drawn from the last film did not do it because I'm sure do it in the next film."
